Meikle Tòir – The Cinqüapin 5 Year Old is a bold and innovative heavily peated single malt created under the meticulous supervision of Billy Walker at The GlenAllachie Distillery. After initial maturation, the whisky undergoes a distinctive finishing period in new Chinquapin oak barrels sourced from the Ozark Mountains in Missouri. This rare oak type imparts intense notes of toasted spice, rich caramel sweetness, and bold oak structure, enhancing the whisky’s muscular peat character.
At just 5 years of age but bottled at 50% ABV, non-chill filtered, and naturally coloured, The Cinqüapin is vibrant, fiery, and full of character — a powerful expression designed for lovers of smoky whisky with an adventurous twist.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Smouldering peat smoke, toasted oak, cinnamon bark, honeycomb, heather, orange zest, and warm spice.
Palate: Rich, oily, and smoky with flavours of charred vanilla, caramelised sugar, nutmeg, clove, baked apple, sweet malt, and bold oak from the virgin Chinquapin casks. Spice builds beautifully on the palate.
Finish: Long, warm, and smoky with lingering cinnamon, peat embers, sweet oak, and caramelised honey.
