Caribbean Cask reifte 14 Jahre lang in traditionellen Eichen-Whiskyfässern und wurde dann in Fässern „veredelt“, in denen zuvor karibischer Rum gelagert wurde.
Um den idealen Abgang zu erzielen, füllte Malt Master David Stewart Fässer aus amerikanischer Eiche mit seiner eigenen Mischung ausgewählter westindischer Rumsorten.
Als er feststellte, dass die Fässer fertig waren, wurde der Rum durch die 14 Jahre alte Spirituose ersetzt und dem Holz wurde der letzte Schliff gegeben.
Das Ergebnis ist ein außergewöhnlicher Single Malt Whisky mit dem traditionell weichen, honigsüßen Charakter von The Balvenie, gepaart mit Toffee-Noten und einem Hauch Frucht, mit einem warmen, anhaltenden Abgang.
Lust auf etwas Glen Garioch
Eine der ältesten aktiven Brennereien in Schottland – und ihre östlichste – Glen Garioch (ausgesprochen Geery im alten dorischen Dialekt, der in diesen Gegenden noch gesprochen wird) stellt seinen mächtigen Malz in der malerischen und historischen Marktstadt Oldmeldrum in der Nähe von Aberdeen im Norden her Ostschottland, seit 1797. Abgeschirmt vor den neugierigen Blicken der Welt, tief in der fruchtbaren „Kornkammer von Aberdeenshire“ und immer nur in kleinen, kostbaren Mengen produziert, ist Glen Garioch in der Tat ein seltener Fund, wird aber von denen, die ihn mögen, sehr geschätzt Herzhaftes Highland-Malz, nicht kältefiltriert, wie es die Natur vorgesehen hat, mit einer gesunden Malznote, honigsüßer Süße und einer köstlichen cremigen Textur zum Genießen.
