Strathmill 2004 Gordon & Macphail

€89,80
Tax included.
A rare single malt from an overlooked Speyside distillery

Most of Strathmill's output goes into blends, so single malts from the distillery are uncommon. Independent bottlers such as Gordon & MacPhail give drinkers the chance to taste what the spirit can do on its own. This 2004 vintage shows the distillery's light, fresh and fruity style, with bourbon-cask sweetness that lets the spirit speak for itself.

About Strathmill

Strathmill was founded in 1891 in Keith, in Speyside, and is known for a light, elegant, fruity style, helped by purifiers fitted to its spirit stills. Its first official single malt only appeared in 2001, so independent bottlings like this one are valuable for exploring the distillery.

About Gordon & MacPhail

Gordon & MacPhail is an independent bottler from Elgin, founded in 1895 by James Gordon and John Alexander Macphail. The company is respected for selecting and maturing casks from some of Scotland's best distilleries. Its Connoisseurs Choice range is one of the longest-running ranges of independent bottlings.

Tasting notes
  • Appearance: Pale gold
  • Nose: Banana, pineapple, coconut, pear and green apple, with delicate floral notes and a creamy butterscotch undertone
  • Palate: A gentle pepper warmth, then juicy tropical fruit including watermelon, pineapple and banana, with lively orange zest
  • Finish: Drying cocoa powder and lingering toasted oak balancing the fruit
How to enjoy it

Enjoy it neat in a tulip glass to appreciate the delicate fruit, or add a few drops of water to bring out the floral notes. It pairs well with fresh fruit, light desserts, soft cheeses and fish dishes.

A gift for curious whisky drinkers

For fans of lighter Speyside whisky, it makes an interesting gift, and for collectors it is an opportunity to add a distillery they rarely see.
