Lagavullin 8 Year Old
Lagavulin 8 Year Old is a vibrant and intensely characterful Islay single malt that showcases the unmistakable smoky style of the legendary Lagavulin Distillery. Originally introduced to celebrate the distillery's 200th anniversary, this younger expression quickly earned its own place within the Lagavulin range.
Compared with older Lagavulin expressions, the 8 Year Old reveals a fresher and more energetic side of the distillery. Peat smoke takes centre stage, accompanied by maritime influences, citrus fruit, spice and a distinctive mineral character.
Classic Lagavulin Smoke
The nose immediately introduces aromatic peat smoke, followed by fresh citrus, subtle sweetness and coastal notes. Hints of malt, herbs and pepper add complexity while maintaining the whisky's fresh character.
On the palate, Lagavulin 8 Year Old is powerful and lively. Layers of smoke, lemon and sweet malt are complemented by black pepper, dry oak and maritime flavours. Despite its relatively young age, the whisky delivers impressive depth and unmistakable Islay character.
The finish is long, dry and warming, with lingering peat smoke, spice and a touch of coastal salinity.
A Different Side of Lagavulin
While Lagavulin is famous for long maturation, the 8 Year Old demonstrates just how expressive its spirit can be at a younger age. Its freshness allows the distillery's peat, smoke and maritime character to shine through with remarkable clarity.
It is an excellent choice for established Lagavulin enthusiasts as well as whisky drinkers looking to explore the distinctive world of peated Islay single malt Scotch whisky.
