On the French island of Martinique there are some very traditional Rum distilleries. The best known of these is Clement, since 1887. Here they make a so-called Agricole Rhum. An old recipe of the island is the Creole Shrubb, a derivative of the famous Grand Marnier. Instead of Cognac they use their rum on Martinique, using Creole herbs and dried orange peels. The result is a soft intense liqueur with warm rum notes. For the real bartender it is often one of his secret ingredients. Pure, the lightly chilled liqueur is also very leaky.
