Octomore 07.3 – Super Heavily Peated Islay Single Malt with Islay Barley

Octomore 07.3 – Super Heavily Peated Islay Single Malt with Islay Barley

Octomore 07.3 – Raw Peat Power with a Sense of Place

The Octomore 07.3 is one of the most iconic releases in the Octomore series, celebrated for combining extreme peat levels with a strong focus on terroir. Distilled by Bruichladdich Distillery, this super-heavily peated single malt is crafted using 100% Islay-grown barley, reinforcing its deep connection to the island.

On the nose, massive waves of peat smoke surge forward, accompanied by earthy ash, smoked barley, and coastal air. As the whisky opens up, hints of citrus peel, malt sweetness, and subtle oak emerge, adding layers beneath the intensity.

The palate is bold, oily, and structured. Powerful smoke dominates, followed by flavours of toasted grain, dark chocolate, cracked pepper, and lemon zest. Despite its formidable peat level, Octomore 07.3 remains surprisingly controlled, allowing the character of the barley and maturation to shine through.

The finish is long, smoky, and persistent, with lingering ash, maritime salinity, and gentle sweetness. Octomore 07.3 is not just a showcase of peat—it’s a statement whisky that proves intensity and balance can coexist. A must-have for serious peat lovers and Octomore collectors
