For the new "Lighthouse Series," Old Pulteney pays homage to its maritime heritage with three special bottlings, including Old Pulteney - Duncansby Head Lighthouse. Exclusively available in travel retail, these whiskies are un-chill filtered and uncolored. Duncansby Head was matured in a combination of Bourbon and Sherry casks. Named after the lighthouse near John O’Groats, 18 miles north of the distillery, it safeguards a treacherous part of the Pentland Firth where the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea meet. Built shortly after WWI, it has been fully automated since 1997 (58° 38.641? NB, 003° 01.521? WL).
