Waterford Single Farm Origin Ballymorgan Edition 1.1
Waterford Ballymorgan 1.1 is a new Irish whisky from a young and emerging distillery founded by ex-Bruichladdich director Mark Reynier. The Ballymorgan 1.1 is part of the Single Farm Origin series, which focuses on barley sourced from a single farm in the brand's local area. The freshly distilled new make spirit matures in a combination of American and French oak for a period of four years. By 2020, 9,000 bottles of this will have been bottled at 50% alcohol.
Despite its relatively young age, the Waterford Ballymorgan 1.1 shows a very rich character. Aromas of milk chocolate, rhubarb and cream form a pleasant whole. On the palate, one encounters hints of caramel-soaked apple, clove, liquorice and mint chocolate. The finish is soft and warming with a touch of spicy chocolate.
