A remarkable bottling in the Cask Strength series. The packaging is in the style introduced in 2012, but the whisky was bottled back in 2007. Gordon & MacPhail have therefore confirmed that this is a re-bottling of an earlier version. The whisky was distilled on 6 May 1991 and matured on two first-fill sherry butts, nos 5520 and 5022. Bottling followed on 15 May 2007, when the whisky was 16 years old. Cask strength is 53.4% and the whisky is not cold-filtered and has its natural colour.

Linkwood distillery is located southeast of the town of Elgin in Speyside and can be reached via the A941 or the A96. Between these roads, on the River Burn of Linkwood, is the Linkwood distillery. The distillery was founded in 1824 by Peter Brown, who was working at a barley producing company. Production in the first year was just 4,500 litres but after Peter's son William took over the business it was already producing 227,000 litres by 1874. Linkwood already had a good name among whisky lovers by then. After several closures and takeovers, an entirely new distillery was built next to the old one in 1971. However, the old distillery was not demolished but is still intact. Roderick Mackenzie who had already been manager of the distillery for 18 years left everything as it was, nothing was to be changed. He was afraid that changes would alter the quality of the whisky, even the cobwebs were not allowed to be removed, as everything had to stay as it was. The old distillery is still frequently in operation. The new distillery has two wash stills and two spirit stills and six large washbacks. One uses refill bourbon and refill sherry casks for maturation. Water for malt production comes via pipeline from springs at Milbuies Loch.
