The story of Ron Cihuatán goes back to the ancient Mayan city of Cihuatán. According to legend, goddess Cihuatán bestowed her triumph over the sugarcane fields with wealth and fertility and remained in the form of Mount Guazapa. Cihuatan rum is named after this legend, which in Nahuat "Cihuatán" translates "the land next to the sleeping woman." The Cihuatan Gran Reserva comes from El Salvador and aged according to the Solera system. This involves barrels stacked on top of each other connected to each other so that the rum always continues from top to bottom. This system ensures that the rum taken from the bottom always tastes the same, guaranteeing a stable flavour. Cihuatan Gran Reserva is a pleasant rum with subtle notes of wood, vanilla and cocoa. Alongside a soft undertone of coffee accented with the sweetness of freshly pressed sugar cane.
