Highland Park 15 Year Old Fire Edition: Norse Mythology Bottled in Orkney

Highland Park 15 Year Old Fire Edition: Norse Mythology Bottled in Orkney

Completing a Two-Part Story

Highland Park has built a reputation not just on exceptional whisky, but on the stories behind each release — and the Fire Edition is the dramatic second half of a tale that began with Ice Edition. Together, the pair forms a complete narrative drawn from Norse mythology, the cultural inheritance of Orkney itself, where Norse influence runs deep in both history and folklore.

The Realm of Muspelheim

Where Ice Edition drew on the cold, frozen realms of Norse cosmology, Fire Edition turns to Muspelheim — the glowing realm of fire and destruction, one of the Nine Worlds of Norse myth. It's a fitting counterpart, representing raw elemental power rather than stillness and cold.

This thematic pairing isn't just storytelling for its own sake. It reflects Highland Park's own identity as a distillery shaped by Orkney's Norse heritage, where fire and ice have always coexisted in both landscape and legend.

Maturation and Character

Fire Edition is a 15 Year Old single malt, matured in refill Port casks throughout its maturation. Refill Port casks tend to impart a gentler, more understated wine character than first-fill casks, allowing the distillery's own spirit character to remain prominent while still gaining the subtle red fruit and warming depth associated with Port maturation.

Bottled at 45.2% ABV, Fire Edition is presented with enough strength to carry real intensity and structure, in keeping with the elemental theme behind the release.

A Release for Collectors and Storytellers Alike

Limited edition releases built around a strong narrative concept, like Fire Edition, tend to attract two types of buyers: those drawn to the whisky itself, and those drawn to the story and the collectability of a themed series. Highland Park Fire Edition satisfies both. As the second half of a two-part release, it also holds particular appeal for anyone who already owns, or is seeking, the companion Ice Edition.

Who Is This Whisky For?

This bottle is ideal for Highland Park collectors completing the Ice and Fire series, as well as whisky enthusiasts drawn to Orkney's distinctive Norse-influenced releases. Its Port cask maturation and elevated strength also make it a compelling choice for drinkers who appreciate a single malt with real depth and intensity.
