Produktionen det første år var på blot 4.500 liter, men efter at Peters søn William overtog virksomheden, producerede man allerede 227.000 liter i 1874. Linkwood havde allerede dengang et godt navn blandt whiskyelskere. Efter adskillige lukninger og overtagelser blev et helt nyt destilleri bygget ved siden af det gamle i 1971. Han var bange for, at ændringer ville ændre whiskyens kvalitet, og selv spindelvæv måtte ikke fjernes, da alt skulle forblive, som det var. Det gamle destilleri er stadig ofte i drift. Det nye destilleri har to wash stills, to spirit stills og seks store gæringskar. Man benytter refill bourbon- og refill sherryfade til lagring.
